I have dish network, need help programing my satellite remote to my satellite?

Heres the deal, i have no satellite box in my room due to the fact my moms got it wired from a different room. I went to turn on my dish tonight and guess what, dead battery. So I grabbed some new batteries, programed my tv with the remote, and now im needing advise on how to program the satellite remote. I wouldnt think you would have to program such a thing, but apparently you do, especially when the box is located in another room. anyone know the solution?
